Abstract:
The blood flow in a compliant vessel is governed by the equations of motion for the fluids and the structure of the continuum mechanics, which lead to a three-dimensional fluid structure interaction model (FSI3D). Such model can be used for the specific treatment of complex pathologies (like aneurysms), or specific components which require a detailed geometrical description. The numerical study of such model is, however, very expensive from the computational viewpoint, so it is impossible to describe the motion of the blood
