MOX Laboratory

Who We Are

MOX was established in 2002, within the department of mathematics, to promote research in mathematical modelling and scientific computing in Science and Engineering, collaborate with external partners on funded projects, and strengthen cooperation with other research groups at Politecnico di Milano.

Since then, it has grown into a complex and dynamic structure, with a lively exchange of high-quality staff among universities and industries and an excellent scientific production documented by numerous scientific publications.

MOX is strongly involved in dissemination, technology transfer and education at Politecnico di Milano, particularly within the Mathematical Engineering programme at Bachelor, Master and PhD level.

Prof. Alfio Quarteroni was the first head of MOX, serving from 2002 to 2013 and again from 2018 to 2022. Prof. Luca Formaggia headed the Laboratory from 2014 to 2017. Since 2023, the head of MOX Laboratory has been Prof. Paola F. Antonietti.
