BSc and MSc in Mathematical Engineering

The Mathematical Engineering program, offered by the Department of Mathematics at Politecnico di Milano, seamlessly integrates advanced mathematics with cutting-edge computational learning and data-driven methodologies to address scientific, technological, and societal challenges.

In particular, the MSc in Mathematical Engineering program features four specialized tracks. Two of them are deeply integrated with the research initiatives of the MOX Laboratory of the Department of Mathematics:

1. Computational Science and Computational Learning (CSCL)

2. Statistical Learning (STAT)

The CSCL and STAT tracks are designed to provide a comprehensive theoretical foundation integrated with experiential learning through hands-on projects, emphasizing the latest advancements in the field, including the mathematical foundations of artificial intelligence. These tracks allow students to participate in research projects and apply their knowledge to real-world problems, engaging with practical applications across various domains, such as industry, healthcare, earth sciences, innovative technologies, and mobility systems.

International opportunities, such as double degree programs with globally renowned universities, Erasmus exchanges, and the chance to conduct the MSc thesis research abroad, further enrich the CSCL and STAT curricula.

This program is designed to cultivate professional profiles—future innovators, researchers, and professionals—with a comprehensive and critical understanding of computational modelling and computational learning, as well as data-driven decision-making in the statistical learning framework.

Graduates are well-prepared for dynamic careers in advanced education (doctoral studies), academia, research centres, technology companies, engineering and manufacturing firms, energy and environmental agencies, healthcare systems, consulting, and (re)insurance markets.
