Modelling of fault reactivation

In the GeoMech project, we tackle the problem of modelling the seismicity induced by a variation in the fluid pressure inside the rocks. I will present the current workflow adopted by ENI and some of the most popular friction models including the rate- and state- friction law. Finally, I will discuss the algorithm used by Abaqus for the enforcement of these constitutive laws and the differences with the approach employed by Pylith. Contact: edie.miglio@polimi.it
