Abstract

Radiation protection and safety are crucial in radiotherapy (RT) to reduce side effects, which are managed through optimization and individualization. Breast cancer (BCa) is the most common cancer in European women, with survivors expected to increase. RT after breast surgery is essential, but some radiation affects the heart and lungs, leading to risks of severe diseases and second cancers. Personalized risk scores could help mitigate these risks by guiding follow-up and screening. The TETRIS project aims to develop and test personalized risk scores using patient-specific data and explore the potential of digital twins (DTs) in RT safety and risk assessment.
