Abstract:
We propose and analyze a new formulation, proposed for the steady linear case in Formaggia et al.(2002), for the prescription of flow rate boundary conditions in fluid-dynamics. We present three strategies for its numerical resolution and several numerical results both for the accademic validation and for the applications. Furthermore, we apply this strategy to the fluid-structure interaction case. Moreover, we apply the proposed strategy to improve the clinical measurements, based on the Doppler technique, of the blood flow rate. Finally, we propose and analyze a completely new strategy based on the control theory, with several numerical algorithms and results. This strategy can be applied to the mean pressure boundary condition as well.
